Support the struggle of the people of Afghanistan against reactionary forces
The recent and rapid political developments in Afghanistan shocked the people of the world and posed many questions related to the occupation of Afghanistan by the US and its allies and also the so called peace agreement with Taliban.
During the process of so-called peace negotiations, Taliban forces were using violence and horrific actions against school girls, hospitals, shops and markets, without any serious reaction or objection from the US part. The whole process to the agreement including US forcing the appointed government in Kabul to free 5 to 6 thousands Taliban prisoners and forcing the government to engage in a pointless negotiation with Taliban, shows that the US had already inclined to handover the power to Taliban under the supervision of their Pakistani backers.
Twenty years ago, the US and its allies occupied Afghanistan with bloodshed, under the pretext of women liberation and fight against terrorism to remove Taliban from the power. Today, however, they have welcomed them to political power under the pretext that the Taliban has changed. This changes has caused tens of thousands of people mostly women with their children leave their home and cross deserts and mountains to reach neighbouring countries in the hope of saving themselves from the barbarism of the Taliban.
Twenty years ago Afghan’s people paid the cost of the United States’ strategical interests with their blood. And today, they again have to pay the cost of the US strategic interests and changing priorities and the re-emergence of the Taliban to the power.
After Taliban took power, women have been killed just because they were outside without a man relative to them (mahram) or for wearing high-heel shoes. Very young girls have been beaten and forcefully taken away to be used as sex-slaves or forcefully to be married to a Taliban fighter. Now Taliban has asked the women not to go to the work until further notice that many know these are the beginning of many more restriction to come as they are consolidating their power. History, once more, has proven that no Imperialist power, in any part of the world can or should be trusted in the fight for women’s liberation. Since the occupation of Afghanistan, women have always been the main victims. And once again with the rise of Taliban to power again this is the women who will bear the blunt of the anti-women Islamic fundamentalist forces.
The crime and betrayal that appeared as a deal between the US and Taliban and the following development gave rise to near a million refugees who have been fleeing the atrocities of Taliban. Many have been trying to cross the borders to Iran, Pakistan or Tajikistan but they met closed borders. The Pakistan has been a long time sponsor of Taliban and Islamic republic of Iran that has emerged as a new supporter of Taliban both are cooperating with the Taliban. Other countries such as Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and even Turkey have reinforced their borders and even have built walls to prevent the refugees to enter those countries. The western governments are only worried about the refugees who might be heading towards west.
We call on all progressive forces, activists, militant organisations and all freedom loving people to join us and condemn the US, Pakistan, Taliban and others who have created such a situation for the people of Afghanistan and support the struggle of people of Afghanistan against Taliban and their sponsors.
