Deportation of Afghan refugees must be stopped!
German government is planning to deport another group of Afghan refugees from Germany. Since December 2016, nine groups of Afghan refugees have been deported from Germany. So far 174 refugees that their applications have been rejected are deported. However the deportation of Afghan refugees has been very controversial in Germany since the war in Afghanistan is continuing with the Islamic fundamentalists and has been further intensified in the last couple of years. In Kabul alone there have been more than 20 attacks and more than 500 killed and thousands wounded in 2017. And Kabul is the capital and is supposedly a safeguarded city.
In January this year the reactionary fundamentalists ‘Islamic State’ carried out four more attacks including the attack on Intercontinental Hotel in Kabul that killed more than 150 including a German aid worker.
According to a Deutsche Welle report from 2015 until the end of 2017 the application of more than 82000 Afghan asylum seekers has been rejected.
At the same time Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has been invited to the security summit in Munich- Germany that is held on17 the February. Ashraf Ghani that owes his position to the US and its western allies is taking part in this summit to commit himself to the interests of its western backers. This also shows extend of the unsecure situation in Afghanistan that the German government is ignoring when it comes to the deporting the Afghan refugees.
When the floods of refugees in 2015 were heading towards Europe, the German government tried to accept refugees from Middle East and Africa in order to deal with its shortage of young labour force and pretended that is helping the refugees and tried to exhibit a nice face of Angela Merkel. But it didn’t take long before German government showed its real face and resorted to the most inhumane measures to control the immigrants. This included the expulsion of refugees and supporting the plans to reduce the aid and rescue forces in Mediterranean Sea and letting the refugees to die and also supporting the building of refugee camps in Libya and Morocco where the refugees on daily bases are tortured and raped.
Deportation has been a continuous threat on Afghan and other refugees in Germany who have gone through tremendous amount of suffering in order to arrive in Europe.
The truth is that the war and the present situation in Afghanistan is the product of decade’s imperialists’ interventions and occupations including Germany that supported the occupation and took part in that in 2001. And this has caused millions of people leave their home and family and refuge elsewhere.
The deportation must be stopped immediately. The support of the German people and revolutionary and progressive forces are important. The example of more than 220 German pilots from Lufthansa who refused to run the Airplanes to deport the Afghan refugees is inspiring and show the extend of solidarity of German people whose supports are vital.
The struggle and protest must continue and this deportation and other inhuman plans by the German government against refugees should be stopped immediately.
