Condemn Trump’s War on Refugees and Immigrants
Trump’s war on refugees and immigrants that has concentrated its fascist and racist policies has outraged millions in the US and around the world. Hundreds of thousands of people in the US and around the world have come out to the streets to protest against the anti- immigrants policies and express their disgust to a fascist’s regime and its leaders. After signing the executive order against the refugees by Trump, in a matter of hours thousands of the people in the US headed towards the airports in various cities including JFK airport in New York and brought the traffic to a halt and demanded the release of those detained.
Refugees and immigrants and citizen from seven countries, Iran, Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Libya, Somali and Sudan have been banned from entering the US for 90 days and those from Syria are banned for an unlimited period according to the Trumps executive order.
This order is an obvious discrimination against Moslem refugees and is openly declaring all Moslems as terrorists and is also a sign of war against Moslems in the US and possibly other countries. Given that Trump has already indicated that the Moslems in the US should be registered, it is a very serious warning to those who have not taken this naked fascism serious. However the protests of many millions against Trump also show there are many who have been alerted to the seriousness of the situation.
The Syrian refugees have been banned from entering the US for an unlimited time. Their country Syria has been devastated by the wars that the US and its western allies and Russia and other reactionary powers in the region such as Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Iran have been waging. Through the military and financial and political supports of the US and its allies, Daesh (IS) and other fundamentalist’s groups have been strengthened. The result has been a civil war that hundreds of thousands have been killed and millions have been homeless and had to leave their home and the country. The US government that has been fanning this war through these years is one of the main responsible of these crimes against the people of Syria. But the ruling power of the US under the Trump by banning the refugees from Syria is continuing its brutality and its crimes against the victims of the war. Iraq is a country that is fallen apart and has become a place for Islamic fundamentalists’ activities after the war that was launched by the US with the cooperation of the British government. The US is responsible for this disastrous situation that has caused the death and homelessness of millions Iraqis. The situation in Yemen is not much different from Syria and Iraq. The war of Saudi Arabia imposed on Yemenis has caused the death of tens of thousands. This war has been supported by the US and its western allies in particular the UK who is one of the main suppliers of the arm to the Saudis. The US also has been militarily intervening in the Yemen and uses its war planes and drowns to bombard the Yemen that has caused the death of many civilian.
Trump order has targeted the victims of these wars. He has at the same time launched a war against the immigrants from Mexico. Trump in his election campaign called them “drug dealers and rapists”. He also wants to build a wall on 1900 miles border between Mexico and the US and is intents to employ thousands more armed border guards, to militarise the border.
Trump in fact has launched a planned and orchestrated war against the refugees that goes well beyond the usual limitation and harassment that has existed in the western countries against the refugees. Trump campaign against the refugees and introducing them as “terrorists”, “criminals”, “drug dealers” and “rapist” and blame them for unemployment, poverty and crime, is aimed to deceive the people and unite the backward sections of the society around its fascistic program. He wants to manufacture some bases for his racist white supremacy ideology. These are all a practical version of the outlook that Trump/Pence and their gangs have introduced as “the US comes first” and “the new vision” that would lead the US imperialists. These are the preface and the beginning of reorganisation of the US imperialists on a fascist bases. In the case of continuation and consolidation of such a government there is a horrifying future that is waiting for the humanity. The danger would become even more when this fascism finds its international alliance. Theresa May the UK Prime-Minister was the first western leader to meet Trump. She has also invited Trump to visit the UK. This invitation has justifiably outraged millions of people in particular in Britain and provoked the immediate reaction of tens of thousands who protested in London in Westminster and in many other cities in the UK. The protests in various forms are still going on. After the Brexit vote in the UK and the growing number of attacks on refugees and immigrants and the continued limitation of the government against the refugees, the Conservative and Labour Parties leaders in the UK are striving to change their world position. They have voted to officially start withdrawing from European Union that this would greatly increase the likelihood of even a closer and stronger relation with the US under Trump. With such a situation the close relation of Theresa May and Donald Trump could lead to a horrendous situation for the people in the UK.
Trump has targeted first of all the Moslems and Mexican refugees. But this can only be the start to be followed by attacking other sections of the society. His disgusting and sickening comments against women and the reputation of the racist and Christian fascist views of his team and cabinet members has rightly concerned the people in the US and around the world. Suppressing the opposition and the sections of the people that might not be appropriate for their programme could go to the top of their agenda soon. We should not forget that Hitler and the Nazis in Germany did not start with the massacre of millions of Jews. He first started to change the laws and then suppressing oppositions and communists and putting limitations on Jew. Then in a short time afterwards he used his power and military force and unleashed his thugs and created unimaginable crimes. The lesson of the recent past put a great responsibility on our shoulders.
The unified struggle in a world scale can prevent another historical disaster. We the refugees and immigrants who are fighting for a world without border, recognise and understand the critical situation of the present time and will fight full forcely against Trump/Pence and their gangs and we believe this struggle is not separated from a struggle for a world without border and without oppression and exploitation. We are determined to continue our struggle and our protest against fascist regime of Trump and its international allies and in this way express our solidarity with the people’s struggle in the US against fascism and the people in Britain against the close relation of the UK government with the Trump’s regime and call on all freedom fighters and all progressive and revolutionary forces and individual to take part in this struggle.
